A Sweetener Present in Energy Pods Reduces Energy Intake, Study Says

At Ketogeek, we currently use erythritol as a sweetener in our Energy Pods. This study(1), conducted in 20 healthy volunteers, using a randomized controlled crossover design, used 50 grams of erythritol versus 33.5 grams of sucrose(sugar), 0.0558g sucralose(zero calories very lightweight sweetener) in a drink form 15 minutes before a test meal. These drinks were then compared alongside tap water.

The scientists noticed energy intake was substantially lower after erythritol compared to sucrose, sucralose, and even tap water. What was also interesting is a significant rise in CCK, a purported satiety hormone, compared to sucrose, sucralose, or tap water. Scientists purport that this rise in CCK may be a major contributing factor in erythritol's capacity to reduce intake.

This study shows promising results for one of the sweeteners we use at Ketogeek for our Energy Pods. Go get some!
