The Hypocrisy of Food Writers, Celebrities and Media: Orchestrating Our Obesity and Health Crises

Media, food writers, celebrity chefs - they are all names we know and trust, and yet, they are the true masterminds behind the obesity, diabetes, and chronic conditions that are plaguing our society. We turn to them for advice on what to eat, what not to eat, and how to live our lives, and yet, they are the ones who are causing us to slowly kill ourselves with their obesogenic junk foods, alcohol, wine, and other unhealthy indulgences. They are the ones who are promoting a lifestyle that is detrimental to our health, all while telling us to "eat a balanced diet" and "moderate our intake” while being salesmen and promoters of some of the most obesogenic foods made by mankind.

This behavior is not only hypocritical but also dangerous. It is similar to someone telling you to budget wisely while promoting their luxury yachts. These so-called "experts" live in their ivory chambers, telling others what to do while hiding their own demons and swimming in the shark tank of dark politics which got them to positions of fame and reputation. Can such a system based on dark bureaucracy be trusted with our health, food, and nutrition advice when popularity and sensationalism can easily triumph over good science?

It's time to take health into our own hands and focus on good science. Good science is the perfect antidote to the misinformation and sensationalism that dominate our media. Unlike sensationalism, good science is rooted in quantification and hard evidence. It's why we don't argue about the gravitational constant or how to construct a plane or airplane. It's time for us to demand the same level of rigor and accountability in the world of food and nutrition.

The truth is, the news and media has given us nothing but confusing and conflicting advice. Within a group of a thousand people, you can't even have an agreement on whether an egg is safe to eat. We were told as kids the story of the "boy who cried wolf," and that's what the media has become. The media has become a false idol, promoting falsehoods and sensationalism instead of good science and understanding of the universe. Above all, media promotions, product placements and news ads are mostly based on the merits of money before any potential health benefits for humanity.

At Ketogeek, we believe that it's time to cut through the junk processed information and focus on science that works. Our dream is to create our own lab where we can study and compare foods while fostering informed consumerism. We want to create foods that are healthy, nutritious, and good for the planet. We want to create a world where everyone has access to healthy food and where no one has to suffer from chronic illnesses because of the food they eat.
